Most people associate marketing with a particular advertising campaign. But advertising is just one element of the 'marketing mix' (the channels through which a product/service is promoted).
Marketing is when ideas for new products or services are realised. Marketers consider the ‘Four Ps’ when deciding on the marketing mix – product, packaging, price and place (where it will be sold).
As a marketer manager, you can work inside a company and oversee campaigns for its brands, products or services. Or you can work in an agency or consultancy, perhaps specialising in certain areas. Companies outsource campaigns to agencies as part of their overall marketing mix.
